Reflections on Blogging

Posted on September 19, 2012January 2, 2017 by Martha

I just realized, after being away these past 6 weeks, that I have lost my enthusiasm for blogging.  There are things I want to spend more time on that are not especially blog-worthy, and that have nothing to do with quilting.  I may be back at some point, or I might just pop in now and then when I manage to finish a project.

Thank you for your support over the past 3+ years.

Martha

I hope you will pop in, too. It’s hard to come back after a break sometimes but I do like seeing your projects.

I will miss your posts, but I certainly understand. I blogged from 2004 to 2009, and then just got tired of being “on” all the time.

I hope to see you around the “innerwebs” now and again! 🙂

I understand. I blogged since 12/2006. I took most of my old posts away and just stop in when I can. I don’t miss it at all.

That said I do enjoy your creations and your attention to detail.

Martha, I have really been inspired by your projects and ideas! I hope you will pop in from time to time, but I know how you feel. Sometimes it is time to step away.
Best of luck in whatever direction you are going!

After checking back almost every day in September to see if you were back, I was delighted to see a new posting and then immediately dismayed to read that you will no longer be blogging. I just want to thank you for all that I have learned from following you over the past several years, for your generosity of spirit in personally responding to some of my quilting questions and all the visual delight that I have enjoyed by viewing your incredible creations. Martha, I have said it before and I will tell you one last time…you are a remarkable and talented artist and I wish you the best of luck with wherever your talent and passions take you in the future. You will be missed.

Your blog entries have always been so carefully crafted, just like your beautiful sewing. I don’t even want to imagine the amount of hours you have spent blogging and sharing your talent and knowledge with like-minded souls. I expect you to pop in from time to time to wave to everyone and post some pictures of your projects. You are so talented and have so many wonderful stories that I will miss your weekly presence. However, I know you will never be far from a needle and thread! We have only been “friends” through this crazy world of cyberspace, but know that I just love you to pieces! AND one day I expect a car to pull up in the driveway and someone to yell out the window “ROAD TRIP”!

Oh Martha I’m going to miss you! I’ve been thinking about you a lot and wondering how you were. Just this past week I kept turning on my computer to email you, and someone would have a crisis….sigh. I hope all is well with you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Like your many other fans, I wish you satisfying time with other efforts. The discovery of your site has been a highlight of my forays around the Internet. I greatly appreciate your generous sharing of designs and careful documentation of original publishers and artists. You have inspired several projects that have given me rewarding moments and renewed respect for historical background.

    Hi Martha,

We moved about a month ago and I just got internet back a little over a week ago so I didn’t realize that you haven’t been blogging as much. I’m glad you are still here. Love your vintage patterns.

    Hi Martha,

When I first read this post my heart sank a little. Partly because I was going to miss your beautiful inspiration and partly because I felt guilty for not taking the time to thank you for each bright moment you put in my day through your posts. I’m so relieved to see additional posts – and just wanted to take the chance to say THANK YOU!!!
