String Star Quilt and Stencil Company Giveaway

Posted on June 24, 2015January 19, 2016 by Martha

It took six months to complete the quilting, but the String Star quilt is finally done. I’m very pleased with the feather quilting, and it was such fun to stitch that I’m a little sorry it’s done. Two Stencil Company templates were used in the plain spaces (10″ feather square and 5″ feather wreath), while the string stars were quilted with 3 diamonds in each point, spaced about 1/2″ apart. There is more information about this quilt in an earlier post.

For the giveaway I selected two additional feather patterns, the 8″ triangular feather for corners, and the 5″ large curved feather for borders. Four commenters will be selected, so your chances of winning should be pretty good. I always want to support businesses that provide products for hand quilters, so here’s a big thank you to The Stencil Company for donating the templates for this giveaway.

10″ Feather Square
5″ Feather Wreath
8″ Triangular Feather
5″ Large Curved Feather

To win one of the four quilting template assortments, simply leave a comment below. I’ll use a random number generator to select four winners on Saturday, July 4.

I love string quilts and your string stars is a stunner. I have a couple of completed string tops for which these stencils could be the perfection inspiration/motivation to complete them.

The stars are so much fun, Martha. And the quilting is exceptional! I’m impressed that you finished in 6 months. It looks like a LOT of quilting to do in such a short time. (Maybe you didn’t do anything else — which would be the case with me.)

I love this website. They not only give you beautiful quilt blocks. They help you find short cuts, making your quilt experience so much more fun. I wish I had all this at my fingertips when my Mother and Grandmother we’re alive what fun it would have been. At my Mamaw’s house she had a quilt rack that hang from the ceiling. They would let it down when working on the quilt. Then would pull it back up when they were done for the day. My papaw made it for her and my Granny. My Granny lived to be 103. This fasanated me as a child. This gave me the love of quilts I have today.

Just wanted to say I love your quilt and how much I think the hand quilting adds to it. Don’t include me in the drawing. I was the lucky winner last time.

Martha beautiful quilts. I loved the colorful fabrics in the star!!!! How I wish I could get similar fabrics here. The fabrics in my place are uniquely different and distinct. But, looking at your quilt, I felt I could do a similar one with the kind of fabrics I get. It would look very different.

The giveaway is lovely too. Thank you for sharing such good things.

Hi there I just found you! You are just like me! Thought I was the only one out there! Just finished completing this same quilt. I went to a Church sale near my home and found bags of quilt scraps marked $2.00 each, brought them home and 1 of the 4 bags had 10 scrap stars already made squished into a bag. Paper pieced still intacted, I worked on them got them ready and finished the blocks. Thank you for sharing your work. It’s just how I pictured this unfinished 1940 quilt to look. Love your Blog!
