More Nancy Page Hand Quilting Designs

Posted on May 27, 2015August 1, 2015 by Martha

I apologize for the quality of these images — the designs are from 1930s newspapers and were only tiny drawings used as an example of the mail order pattern you could purchase. Unlike the more familiar Nancy Page series quilts that were published full-size in many newspapers, the individual quilt patterns and quilting designs were mail order only.

The images have been cleaned a bit and enlarged, so hopefully you will be able to print and trace the designs. Additional information and a group of more geometric Nancy Page quilting designs is available in an earlier post. Click any image for slideshow.

Those are pretty; I love the pineapple and the rabbits. So were they meant to be done block by block as a whole cloth?

I love anything to do with the Nancy Page designs and I really like these quilting patterns. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think they are made for a whole cloth, Little Penpen, I think they are probably meant to be quilted in the plain setting blocks that are common in quilts from that era, (1930’s & 40’s), but that it just my thought on the matter.

Thank you for this great post. I am so inspired by your research and great finds. I’m halfway through quilting the pineapple pattern above. Do you have any tips to share on transferring patterns? I’ve just been using craft fabric to trace the outline and then overlaying it on the quilt as a guide, placing my needle, pulling the craft fabric outline back, stitching and then starting over–but it’s so time-consuming.
      Thanks again for the inspiration!
