January Apron Giveaway, Part 2 — Child’s Apron

Posted on January 21, 2015July 28, 2015 by Martha

This was going to be next month’s apron, but then I realized I really wanted to make a Valentine apron for February, so now this is January Apron Giveaway, Part 2.

The apron includes the pocket from the newspaper illustration I posted earlier, but I used a 1970s pattern from my collection for the shape. The pattern is a size 3, but I have shown it on my size 3/4 dress form, with a size 4 dress, and I think it could be worn by little girls size 2 & 3, and maybe 4 as well, if they’re small. The dress is not part of the giveaway — I just thought the apron looked weird on the mannequin without some clothing underneath. I purchased the apron fabric from the Goodwill; it is heavy-ish like canvas, and it feels like cotton to me, but it could be some kind of blend. The binding is a tiny Michael Miller printed gingham.

The closures will be large buttons in a color that coordinates with the apron. I’ll have to go to the fabric store for those, and I wanted to take these photos today.

Just let me know in the comments below if you would like to enter to win this apron. I will use the random number generator to select a winner on Saturday, January 31.

Oh my goodness… just precious! I love the embroidery design. I have two little ladies in my life that could enjoy this apron for a few years. One is 9 months and the other will be born soon. What a sweet apron to keep at Grandma’s for cookie baking. 😉

The cutest, sweetest apron. Wish I had a little granddaughter for this, well not right now since my son is 19, but still!

This is so special!! My little grand-daughter just turned four. We do cooking together and I am teaching her to embroider. She is working on a little kitty tea towel for her mom. If I’m drawn–it will be a gift to her. I know she’ll appreciate it as she is learning to sew and this would be such a treasure! If I’m not selected, you have given me an idea for her Valentines gift!

Hello! I am thrilled to stumble upon your treasure trove of Kansas City Star hand quilting patterns. I used to work at the Star and had no idea they had ever printed patterns. I wish they would start printing them again!

This apron is lovely and the embroidered illustration is adorable. Thanks for sharing your resources and photos with me.

This apron is SO adorable! My girls are too big for it already, but I love the idea of child sized aprons for them. Maybe I’ll see if they want to make their own. 🙂
