September Apron Winner

Posted on September 3, 2014July 28, 2015 by Martha

Congratulations Commenter #9, Beth F!  You are the winner of the September apron.

September-Apron-Winner

Thank you to everyone who participated — there was a big group this time.

For October’s apron, I am planning to make this cute Betsey Johnson apron from the 70s, but there are some competing projects:  recreating the 1970s iconic jacket worn by Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan for Emily’s Halloween costume (just ordered the fabric); making 120 red and black crepe paper roses, and a large paper mache gargoyle for Emily’s Goth-themed 30th birthday bash in November (30 flowers completed); and finally creating 40 “rustic winter wonderland” centerpieces using white crepe paper flowers for a local charity event that we support, also in November (only one sample arrangement made). Of course, there are also Christmas gifts to be made, so I’m afraid there may not be much quilty stuff going on in the Gray home for the next few months.

    Congratulations to Beth!

Your aprons are just so wonderful – where you find such great, vintage patterns? Also, I hope you post a picture of the ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ jacket you will be making – I would love to see it!

Agree with Tina above–would love to see the jacket. Sounds like you will be awfully busy! Betsy Johnson brings back some memories from long, long ago. In my younger days, I thought she was brilliant–loved her designs, although I’m certain my renditions did not do them justice at all.

Oh my goodness I love that apron!! It is really old-fashioned looking, my grandchildren think I am not all the way dressed when I don’t have an apron on, they always ask me, where is your apron Grannie? They also love to wear all my aprons when they help me cook and clean.. So cute!!

    Congratulations to Beth!

It sounds like you have a very busy time ahead. I hope you have lots of fun with your projects. I would also love to see the jacket when you make it. I have always wanted to make a quilted one but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe yours will motivate me.

I adore the big floppy hat that is shown with the apron. Now–if you decide to start making hats, put my name on the top of the list.LOL

I have been wearing a wonderful apron you made me (print that looks like needlepoint flowers on one side, reverses to pink polka dots) and I just love it. In fact, I try not to get anything on it because it’s so pretty. I might need an apron for my apron.

Wow! You amaze me with all you do…..and the thing about it is, you do everything so well. Martha Stewart is pale in comparison to you! 🙂
