Mourning Lucy Miniature Quilt

Posted on March 10, 2014March 10, 2014 by Martha

This is a memorial quilt for my recently deceased almost 17 year-old dog, Lucy. I made the quilt using fabrics from antique tops and blocks, including mourning prints, shirtings, homespuns, and added some old pink pieces for my sweet girl dog.

The quilting pattern in the blocks is made up of diagonal lines and circles, while the border is quilted in an egg and dart cable.

It’s a beautiful little quilt, Martha. I love your choice of pink and grey/black. I’ve never done anything constructive when we’ve lost our dear pets — well, once I wrote some memories and put them with photos — but nothing like this. I just sit and cry and cry. I will remember your quilt when I experience the loss of one of our beloved Airedales in the future. I’m sorry for your loss.
