This pattern was published by Florence LaGanke in the 1930s, and was part of the Nancy Page Quilt Club series. The instructions call for each bird to be framed by appliqued fabric pieces meant to resemble strips of wood. Thumbnails of the bird patterns are shown below (click to enlarge), and the complete pattern with instructions is available here.
Other Nancy Page patterns are available in earlier posts: Falling Leaves, Brother-Sister, and Embroidered Snowflake
Thank you so much, Martha, for these beautiful bird patterns. I think a bird appliqued to a quilt is very pretty so any of these would be great to use alone or put together as a whole quilt.
These are so cute. I love the Nancy Page snowflake pattern, have that UGH somewhere and have seen a vintage quilt made with it (it was stunning).
Hugs and happy sewing,
Mickie
This is charming!
Thanks so very much for the pattern! Love these old vintage patterns. Would love to someday have this one made and in my collection!
Thank you. I love the old patterns.
I am in a lot of pain today because of the old bones, prescriptions mixed up and perhaps the first Fall rain. =) Looking at these birds quilt patterns, my pain vanished for the time that I got lost, distracting myself smiling so much thinking of all the birds that I LOVE!!! and had seen through the years.
If I could hug you I would love to do so today. Don’t know how to thank you. A brief moment of no pain mean so much. (To me at least.)

Thank you for sharing. I so enjoy having Nancy Page designs. Have you made the blocks?
