In 1959, not long after this coloring book was published, Alaska and Hawaii became the 49th and 50th states. As an 11 year-old growing up in Oklahoma, I remember thinking how cool it was to have such exotic places become part of the United States.

Ha! Good thing you explained why Hawaii and Alaska were included! I’m anxiously waiting to see if there are little Mounties to represent Canada.
Ha! I thought I was finished, Holly, but you made me realize that I forgot to do Canada. I’ve added it now, but I’m sorry to say there are no little kid mounties. That would have been cute.
I like Hawaii, and Peru ^_^. I also wonder whether my humble country would ever show up. But is this is the last set. May be not. =)
Thank you for the colouring pages! I will be sure to put them to good use.
In 1959 my parents who both worked for the US State Department were transfered to Laos. Because of difficulties with insurgents at the time we had to spend 2 months in Honolulu and then 2 months in Hong Kong before we went on to Laos. We were there when Hawaii became the 50th state and it was quite exciting for my brother and I with all the celebrations. The beach at Waikiki was far different than it is these days and for two young kids it was a paradise. Thank you for sharing and bringing back happy memories.
Thank you so very much for these beautiful colouring pages. Are you through now? If so I will go through and pick my favorites and then see what I can do with them. They really are so cute! Greetings from Germany and thank you!!!!
Hi, these are wonderful! Can I share them at my blog by referring your name?
