In my closet are some very old salesman sample books with pretty velvet and silk fabric pieces which I thought someday I would use to make a Victorian crazy quilt. After seeing photos of this amazing quilt on ebay (which sold for $5,000), I’m conflicted — not sure if I’m inspired or discouraged to attempt a project like this. Maybe a pillow would be a better idea.
Wow! What an intricate crazy quilt. A friend of mine found a very elaborate crazy quilt at a garage sale several years ago. It was in mint condition. I don’t have that kind of luck.
THAT is astonishing. I’ve never seen anything even close to that. (Maybe you could do a doll-sized one?)
5 grand? HOLY SMOKES! I have noticed the quilt market is coming back a little on Ebay.
That is GRAND indeed!
What an amazing quilt! I wonder how long it took for the quilter to complete it. Such a beautiful work of art…a steal at 5 grand. I know you could do something equally beautiful and imaginative but it would probably take years and you would probably have to put all your other projects on hold. But it is tempting to think about, especially since you have so much old and interesting fabric. And of course, we would all cheer you on!
I LOVE your blog!!! I have downloaded EVERYthing and drooled on all the pictures. Thank you for the eye and heart candy! I was reading through old blogs and saw something that made me stop-is your sister’s name Jean Ann? I stopped because my name is Jeananne-there’s not many of us around and I love to hear of others. Thanks for blessing my life and inspiring me to creativity.
OH, please do not be discouraged. There is no hurry and you will be so pleased when you finish. Perhaps a piano scarf? It is smaller and might be more manageable. I find CQ so relaxing and creative…
As always, I enjoy your blog and read it all.

VERY inspired!
Wow! That quilt is amazing. Pillow would be easier, that said you do beautiful work and I bet your take on a crazy quilt would be equally amazing and beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pics of this quilt. 🙂
This crazy quilt is fabulous! I started crazy quilting in 2007 and it can become addicting! I now have way more cq stash than traditional quilting supplies. lol
