Appliqued Baby Quilt – Vintage Novelty Toy Fabric

Posted on May 8, 2012September 19, 2016 by Martha

The quilt top is smaller than I originally planned.  I decided to use each of the toy motifs only once, and then make two bead blocks.  The blocks are 8″ with 2″ sashing and a 4″ outside border.  Because I have so much of this novelty fabric, I might add this to my shop as a kit.  The quilt top is 36″ x 46″.

The novelty fabric is cute, but only you could make a quilt this charming with it. Those shadows really add a lot. Your stitching is immaculate. I want to be you when I grow up!

I don’t know if beautiful or cute is the right word, but I love it! Those shadows are so neat, just like your stitching. 🙂

I was trying to decide if you appliqued all those pieces or if those were actually printed on the novelty fabric. I realize now that YOU did all that….love the shadows. Beautiful!

This is so lovely! I was curious as to what method you use to transfer your coloring pages onto the cloth. I am trying to make a Strawberry Shortcake quilt for my daughter but am having trouble transferring the designs. I would love to hear your advice on the subject.

Oh! I love how you did the shadows! The fabric is perfect too. We really do like the same things. Maybe we are related!

These designs so are adorable. Really like the shadow effect. I am going to make some soft stuffed fabric cubes around 4 inches to a side with this same effect! K
