This week I want to share with you this wonderful ABC book published in 1922 by Platt and Munk. This is one of the first books illustrated by Lois Lenski, and it is a little different in style compared to her later books. Some of the pictures are in color, and some are black and white (a few of which were colored in by a child, so I have had to clean them up).
Each day this week I will post more pages of this adorable book. I hope you enjoy them.
I Love these illustrations… I’m feeling so happy looking at these colored ones. Thanks a lot, Martha! 🙂
I can’t wait to see the rest of the alphabet. These are beyond wonderful. I love that baby buggy, and the fence, and the newspaper hats on the children – just everything. (I also have two green depression glass vases that I’ll photograph tomorrow!)
Sweet pictures. Are you going to try embroidery on any of these?
And how is your Alice stitcheries coming along.
P.S. I found the Flicker group with all the vintage embroidery pattern pictures and see that you are a contributor.
Lois Lenski is one of my favorite children’s authors and illustrators – I love these so much, thank you for sharing them!
These are so charming! I love the checked pants on the Easter Bunny!
I sew for charity, am always looking for more designs. Your efforts to share your treasure trove are so appreciated, thanks for the inspiration!
