Halloween Table Topper – Continued

Posted on May 11, 2010May 22, 2010 by Martha

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes, and also for the nice comments about this project.

Yesterday I managed to finish two more sections of the topper, and I attempted to make the lines in the skeleton a little darker. I am having a lot of fun with this project — here are my next two sets of characters.

Wow, Martha! That is VERY generous! I LOVE what you have done – it is an amazing piece. I think that if I were to attempt this technique, I would probably pick one of the elements like the cat on the pumpkin or a couple of the people and use them on a small project. I don’t know if I have the patience to tackle the whole design. That’s part of the reason this project is SO special – it is not something that everyone could do, especially so well.

I’ve got to tell you though, you have kept me PLENTY busy lately and I am LOVING it! Remember the Laura Wheeler laundry bag transfer you posted? I am embroidering part of it onto a dress for Baby Doll. I plan to post the WIP soon. I appreciate SO MUCH the patterns and images you share. They really spark my imagination. 🙂

I think that this pattern would be beyond my scope just now. I think it is so cool, but I know myself better than to think that I would finish it, if I even got started.

You know I would save the pattern, though. Just in case, someday, I needed a holloween project to dazzle with!

I love it Martha, but I doubt I would do it – I wouldn’t want you to go through all that work if I didn’t. The pieces look so tiny, are you appliqueing everything??? I’ve seen a lot of old pictures [similar to this] that I’d love to make quilts of, but would probably use the first technique I ever learned….painting on fabric, then quilting and adding details with thread. How did you do the skyscrapers? BTW, the skeleton looks much better with the darker lines – this is super!

Martha, so sweet and kind of you to offer the pattern. Yours is truly stunning. But I doubt my patience 🙂 All the little details are so painfully crafted into it… it is just amazing!!!

It’s interesting that others seem lto think it is a little too daunting. I would make one of these in a new york minute! The cutting seems like a good veg out in front of the tv project.
