I am so excited to have won this old catalog on ebay for only $15, which was a great deal in my opinion. It is big (11″ x 13″) and although the cover is shelf-worn, the pages are pristine and the illustrations are wonderful. The catalog contains pictures of every Simplicity needlework pattern in their 1948 library. The pictures are very detailed (they appear to be the illustrations/photographs on the original pattern envelope), and it would be easy to duplicate many of the embroidery and applique patterns from the pictures. There are 192 pages separated into 4 categories: Modern & Miss, Children’s Section, Women’s Section, and the Household Section, with 2 pattterns on each page.
So cute! I saw a dog bib made from this pattern (7351) at one of the estate sales last week. I had never seen that type before, and now I have seen it twice in one week!
Wow — I also had never seen these bibs, but they are so cute. This type of bib probably made sense when little girls wore dresses with gathered skirts and little puffed sleeves. I know my mother made dresses just like this, but no little bib.
Awww, those are great! The little bunnies are too cute.
Wow–what a buy! You are a lucky girl! Thanks so much for sharing the photos with us. I love anything vintage especially patterns (for the moment LOL). I also have patterns to share, but am unsure of the best way to prepare the patterns. If I scan them I will have to cut them apart and don’t want to do that. I could take photos of them and then upload the pictures, but maybe everyone just traces them and then scans. Do you have any tips? Thanks in advance.
do you have pattern for a flamenco dancer?
