Barbara at Oodles and Oodles recently wrote about her newly renovated bluebird houses. Here’s one of her photos where you can see a potential new resident.
When I read about her bluebirds, I remembered I had a couple of cute birdhouse pages somewhere in my vintage coloring book collection — it just took me a little while to find them.

Oh how cute! Those sweet illustrations are timeless aren’t they? 🙂
We just realized today that we have wrens living in ours. Oh well, we love all the birds! Those illustrations are ADORABLE for spring!
Oh my goodness!!! Those pages are just the best. That’s exactly how I picture them, the mister and missus. And that’s just how I felt painting their boxes, like I’d like to hang fresh curtains for them. I saw one yesterday with a long piece of straw in his (her?) mouth, which I think is a very good sign!
I love your little birds! I though Barbara’s photos were fantastic! I have never done bird houses, or feeders. I am not sure that I could be counted on to be a good ‘land lord’ for them. But I do love watching them!
You must have a wonderful vintage coloring book collection. I never have given a thought to collecting those and can’t recall seeing any in antique shops. Are they hard to find?
Those illustrations are fabulous! I can just see them done in blue thread! Where on earth do you find such treasures?
Those are so cute! I love the one where they are spring cleaning. I should take a cue from the birds and GET WITH IT myself!
Barbara’s post is great – I’m envious of those pretty songbirds. We have been kind of short on them around here for many years and they are just making a comeback. As I type this my husband just walked in and told me there is a hawk in the neighborhood. 🙁
We have some bluebird houses, but no bluebirds. Not so much the area for them. They were actually built in central MO. However! We do feed birds, and see lots of other fun ones, both in the yard and in the open area. Not really the variety and the colorful ones perhaps that I have seen in other areas I have lived, but still very interesting.
These would make darling embroidery designs for quilt blocks! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Alyson
