The basket quilt is finally done, and I’m very happy with it. You might remember that this quilt started out with a print border, but I just wasn’t happy with it. After I decided to do the blue floss quilting on the white border, it seemed like a good idea to add some blue quilting to the interior. In the end, I did a little machine quilting in the ditch, some hand quilting with white thread in the basket blocks and the blue quilting with embroidery floss.

Wow..changing the border really changed the look of the quilt. I think the quiet border lets us appreciate what’s going on in the rest of the quilt. I LOVE the blue quilting! 🙂
This is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! I LOVE the blue quilting – it ties in perfectly with the embroidered blocks. What a gorgeous quilt!!!
Hi Martha!
As you know, I liked it with the border you had on it before, by I gotta say that when you’re right, YOU’RE RIGHT! The white border was the way to go. It looks FANTASTIC! Really brings out the center of the quilt and makes it the star. And the blue quilting stitches keep the white from being austere. BEAUTIFUL and WELL DONE!
It did turn out wonderful! I love the knot pattern quilting in the border. So interesting for the eye, but it does frame the quilt in a way that enhances and does not distract. The basket blocks are wonderful, too. A great combination!
This is so charming. Your quilting is gorgeous… the blue thread looks so pretty in the borders!
