This owl took almost the whole skein of floss — and most of it was done with just one strand. It’s hard to see in this photo, but I used another variegated floss — sort of a brown/rust/red combination. It’s subtle, but I like it. I promised myself I would only do two of these, but I’ve already started a third one. They are so fun to stitch. I guess the old wool quilt is just going to have to wait a little while longer.
This is just too cool. What size squares are you using? Which floss? I love this.

I am really enjoying these! Maybe Jan and my next effort will have to include these!
For a second, I thought you had finished ‘A’ through ‘O’! I was impressed! Actually, I am still impressed – these look very nice. I love working with one color (or varigated color) It is just so easy to keep going, and going,….
Your blocks are gorgeous! Love that you used variegated thread, somehow it creates more depth or character to embroideries. I don’t know, I just like it. 🙂 Good thing you picked only a few to embroider, doing all A to Z would be a long and boring project I think. At least, it would be for me! I would probably give up after “C”, hahaha.
I wonder what colours you’ll use for the others! 🙂
Oooh, I love this!
