WIP Wednesday — Even More Denim Coverlet Squares

Posted on February 17, 2016 by Martha

Yay! The denim squares are back. 121 are finished, 13 are prepped (mostly the rest of the alphabet), and there are 30 more to design. I’m having a mental block coming up with new ideas, but am hoping for a breakthrough very soon. It’ll be exciting to move on to the next phase of this project — backing the squares with reproduction fabrics, and blanket stitching the edges with perle cotton.

Beautiful! You have many holidays represented. Do you have Thanksgiving? Pilgrim hat? This is so cool. I look everyday hoping to see new blocks.

Have you done all the fruit and veg that you can think of?! spoon? fork? different shaped leaves? different shapes? (hexagon, pentagon, parallelogram?) So far your blocks are all looking great!

I may repeat myself but let me think…. tulip, book, smart phone, hand mirror, oscillating fan, broom or dust pan, bowl, button, lemon, and I think that’s all I have for now. 🙂

I can’t remember if you did ice cream or dog bone? Just wondering. I think this is going to be a fantastic piece!!! Hugs, Mickie

How about a sled/sleigh? I can’t remember all the ones you’ve done. They really are too fun!

Do you do raw-edge applique and, if so, do you use something on the back to keep them from fraying? Does it make the fabric stiff and unbendable?

    Thanks!
