When Moda released these cute reproduction handkerchiefs in their own little case, I immediately thought of using them to make a quilt for my sister, Mary. This is probably the closest I’ll ever come to making a sampler type quilt, and it’s really not that close. I guess the one thing that makes it a little sampler-like is the unique quilting pattern on each block. It was a lot of fun making up the quilting designs, but I wish now that I had added sashing between the blocks. Mary displays the quilt on the wall behind her bed.

They did a good job on making the hankies look truly vintage! The quilt is very cute!
That is SO sweet – I love the way you quilted it too! Darling!
I love it Martha! I would have never known it wasn’t old hankies.
What a sweet quilt! The hankie prints are really good reprentatives of the old originals. I like how you quilted each block differently. I remember my Mother always having a hankie in her purse..and it always smelled like the clove gum she also carried. 🙂
Martha, this is adorable! I remember when we always had to have a hanky with us; wear gloves and hat to church and important places! It really brings back memories!
How do you accomplish so much by hand and avoid carpel tunnel?>
You are my hero, gal!

Martha, what you did with the individual blocks is amazing! The designs you quilted for each block are so beautiful! It is a very cute quilt with fun details.
This is beautiful! I am going to make one too. I have so many hankies. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to hand quilt it. It will have to be machine quilted. Yours is so personal and unique with the different quilted blocks. I absolutely love it! Great job! If you have any tips for me they would be very much appreciated.
