Most quilters are probably aware of the quilt patterns published by the Kansas City Star newspaper from 1928 to 1961. Less well known are the hand quilting patterns that were occasionally part of these weekly publications. Here are a few patterns from my collection — all from the 1930s. Click images for slideshow.
I was not aware of published quilting patterns… those are lovely! Thanks for sharing…
Thanks for sharing! You were my inspiration for a doll quilt swap in which I participated…link here

Wow! I love them – I had no idea that the KCS published quilting designs as well. What a fabulous resource. Have you used many in your quilts? With today’s technology they could easily be resized to fit any size block.
I had no idea they did quilting patterns too – these are so lovely – I’m picturing some of them colored in or done in applique as well! Thank you Martha!
Those are really lovely! Like a kaleidoscope
Beautiful. I have such a hard time trying to think up quilting patterns, and you often can’t make out the quilting pattern in a photo of an old quilt. These are wonderful – I will come back to these next time I am looking for inspiration. Thankyou.
I love them! I’ve been looking at my quilting patterns lately, we must be on the same wave length! 🙂
Thanks, you can’t have to many of those !!
These are lovely – many thanks for sharing them.
What a lovely treasury! I have always had trouble finding good handquilting patterns online but now my troubles are over. 🙂
Do you have a suggestion for quilting a 10″ fan pattern block?
