These pretty vintage tulip quilt blocks are from Barbara at Oodles and Oodles, who always finds the best stuff. They were stamped on a heavier type muslin and stitched with green and a variety of pink colored floss. I knew they would look good with a couple of vintage chintz fabrics I already owned — a solid green, and a wonderful tulip stripe. The quilt is 56″ x 56″ and made as a throw, but I think it would also make a nice table topper. It will be hand quilted, but I haven’t decided on a pattern.
This is another Christmas gift — part of Allie’s Christmas Through the Year Club, which has really inspired me to get these presents done a little earlier this year.
How lovely…. love the cross-stitched tulips and the tulip stripe border! Can’t wait to see it quilted…
So pretty! I love how you set the blocks into a quilt. I don’t think you could have gotten better fabrics..no matter when this was made? 🙂
I love when things end up in the right hands … I’m sighing happily.
Those are so lovely, and you picked the perfect fabrics to pair them with – Barbara sure sent them to the right person!
The tulip border is perfect!!!
Very pretty. Love pink and green quilts.
Wonderful tulips!
Your comment about a heavier cotton reminded me that 80 years or so ago in my family the embroider on heavy cotton was used to make summer bedspreads. Now that I machine quilt, I’ve thought about machine quilting some of the to extend their lives even further.
How perfect is the border! If only the quilter got to see her handwork so lovingly showcased…
I can’t IMAGINE fabrics more perfect than this border and sashing fabric to showcase those LOVELY blocks! You have so many wonderful projects lined up for Christmas presents – do you ever NOT know what you wish to work on next?
