Here’s the closet in the sewing room where the unfinished projects and vintage scraps live.  You’ll notice that I have many ugly plastic bins and drawers, shoe boxes, Christmas boxes, and anything else I could scrounge.  I would love to replace these with more attractive storage (a summer project?), but for now it’s functional,  and I am just happy to have a room of my own.

I hope I have made you feel much better about your unfinished projects (and probably your sewing room as well) — sort of how watching that icky “Hoarders” program makes me feel better about my house.

Oh, you made me LAUGH! You nailed it when you said, “I am just happy to have a room of my own.” I WISH! I used to have my SEWING TABLE in the study and the study closet was MINE ALL MINE! Now two little girls are sleeping in the study and the closet is full of clothes and toys. I sew on the kitchen table and my “closet” is an IKEA shelving unit across from the cooktop. At least I can stare at my unfinished projects while I cook (and believe me there is ALLOT to look at)! Oh, forgot to mention my “lovely” plastic tubs in the master closet for my stash of fabrics. Have I returned the favor and made you feel better? 🙂

I keep telling myself, “You can’t start anything new until you finish one old thing.” Ha! I kind of like those WIPs hanging around: in some strange way, they are inspirational.

When I read your lists it sounds like you have been looking in my sewing room. You might think that your closet looks “ugly” but it is very well organized.

Why thank you Martha, I do feel better, lol! All my wips are in totes you can’t see through, so I have no clue what they are. Your closet looks SO organized, I’m jealous! And very glad too that I have my own room.

Well, Martha, you have inspired me in many ways and now, I feel much better about starting things before I finish the next! I must say the closet looks very organized!

(I am pretty sure the list of quilts that you have finished, more than balances out the ones that are still in progress!)

Oh I feel your pain! Thanks for making me feel better–or at least like someone else is in the same boat. That hoarding show really REALLY disturbs me.

You definitely made me feel like I’m not the only one with a long list of WIPs1 sometimes I think projects needs to “marinate” for a while — at least that’s the rationalization I use.

Wow Martha, I do feel a lot better! I could not bring myself to actually go in the closet and count. That is just too scary.

Martha, your projects are so organized… My wips have been such a bother for me too 😉

Actually…I do feel a bit better – thanks! And yes…that Hoarders show REALLY helps too! I watch it when I have spent too much time in my sewing room and the rest of the house has degenerated into a state of complete chaos! Good suggestion.

PS – I suspect that my list would look just as scary if I were to be organized enough to write it out!
