ABC Embroidered Quilt Block – Rooster

Posted on July 17, 2009July 27, 2015 by Martha

This was a quick block, but I think it’s pretty cute. I spent most of the day piecing a baby quilt for one of the teachers at my school who is pregnant — the top will be finished tomorrow. Right now I’m finishing up T is for Tiger and tonight I’ll work on S is for Sailboat or Seal (I haven’t made up my mind yet).

He is a very graceful rooster! The ‘filler’ motif is really effective and I love the varigated red floss!

Well, cock-a-doodle-DOO!!! He is a good looking fellow! I agree with Jan, the filler is very nice and I continue to admire the effect you have created by using variegated thread.

What a cute rooster. Nice colour choice for this block, since we tend to think of the term red rooster! I love the way you design each letter, they are gorgeous. I couldn’t tell you which to pick between sailboat or seal, they are both nautical things and I like them both! Haha. You seem to have quite a few “living” things throughout the series, perhaps the seal would be a good choice. But then again the sailboat would be a balance for the “non-living” things. Tough choice! Which design do you like?

I like the way “S is for Sailboat” sounds better.
